Richard Pacitti CWP Dedication
Sheriff Cabral invited Department staff to join friends and family of Richard Pacitti at the House of Correction for a dedication of the Community Works Program Unit in his honor.
Eisenhower Fellows Tour
Sheriff Cabral hosted an international group of Eisenhower Fellows. Members from such countries as Egypt, South Africa, Thailand and China visited the HOC while part of a new pilot initiative known as the Common Interest Program.
IDJELR Jail Tour
A tour of the Nashua Street Jail was given to members of the Irish Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform (IDJELR) through a collaboration with Northeastern University’s College of Criminal Justice.
Directions for Corrections Town Forum
Suffolk County Sheriff’s Andrea J. Cabral hosted the Sheriff’s Department Directions for Corrections Town Forum titled “Why Aren’t You in School? A Community Response to Truancy.”
Boston Area Church League
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department supported the 2007 Boston Red Sox Boston Area Church League and chaperoned league members at the Fenway Park awards ceremony.
2nd Annual Morelli Tournament
The Department joined with outside agencies and other law enforcement teams in a softball tournament to honor Capt. Dennis Morelli. The money raised went towards continuing a scholarship in his honor.
Honor Guard at Red Sox Game
Members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard presented the Colors at Fenway Park during a Red Sox vs. Orioles ballgame.
Correction Officer Graduation Class No. 07–01
Members of Correction Officer Training Academy Class number 07–01 took the Correction Officer’s Oath during graduation exercises at the Back Bay Hilton in Boston.
National Night Out Events
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department joined forces with the Boston Police as part of the 2007 “Unity Through Community” National Night Out during BPD Open Houses and local community events.
Correction Officer of the Year
Sheriff’s Department Choice Program Officers were honored with a Community Service Group Award during the 10th Annual Correction Officer of the Year Ceremony at the State House.
Special Olympics Torch Run
The Sheriff’s Department continued its support for Special Olympics during the 2007 Law Enforcement Torch Run to kick–off the summer games.
Memorial Day Observances
Members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard presented the Colors during Memorial Day services in Dorchester.
LeadBoston House of Correction Tour
Members of the social justice organization LeadBoston visited the Suffolk County House of Correction to take a tour and learn about the day–to–day operations of the facility.
Rich Pacitti Memorial Tree Dedication
The 23rd Savin Hill annual park clean up featured a memorial and tribute to Richard Pacitti who is remembered as one of the Dorchester community’s greatest champions and a former Sheriff’s Department employee.
House of Correction Legislative Tour
Sheriff Andrea J. Cabral and staff at the House of Correction played host to a very important and informative tour as the department kicked off the first of its quarterly legislative tours at the facility.
“Race Up Boston Place”
Members from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department formed a team to race in a benefit for the American Lung Association of Massachusetts.
First Female Jail Brake
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department started its Female Jail Brake at the South Bay House of Correction on Valentine’s Day in 2007.
