The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard is recognized as the Department’s official ceremonial unit, which provides professional services for funerals, parades, various ceremonies, sporting contests and official state and county functions. The members of this cadre of specially-trained Department officers also perform routine duties, including the traditional officer functions of maintaining the care and custody of inmates and detainees who are remanded to the Department by the courts.
