Roxbury Community College’s 50 Anniversary Celebration, the college held a two-day academic symposium last month entitled “Learning, Innovating, Responding:The Power of Education in Building Thriving Communities.” Moderating one of the panel discussions, RCC Board Chair and Sheriff of Suffolk County Steven W Tompkins welcomed Boston Police Department (Official) Commissioner Michael Cox; Louis D. Brown Peace Institute Founder, CEO and President Clementina Chery; Co-Founder of the Transformative Prison Project Armand Coleman; and Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at RCC Theresa Wilson Coney to the stage for a discussion about “Restoring Community From the Inside Out: Partnerships, Pressure and Reform.
