In August of 2005, Investigators from the Suffolk County
Sheriff’s Department began investigating allegations
that certain employees of the Department were involved in
facilitating the purchase of illicit narcotics for eventual
sale and distribution to inmates housed at the Suffolk County
House of Correction. Extensive efforts by the Sheriff’s
Investigative Division uncovered a conspiracy involving Correction
Officer Kenneth J. Nobile, Jr., a 17–year employee assigned
to the House of Correction and three individuals not associated
with the Sheriff’s Department, Jean Signorino, 58, Danielle
Aluia, 23, and John Cincotti, 45, all of Revere, MA and others
not yet named.
During the 20–month long probe, the Sheriff’s investigative
team developed crucial evidence regarding the conspiracy through
extensive surveillance and other methods. Department investigators
enlisted the assistance of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s
Office and the Massachusetts State Police in obtaining a search
warrant that was executed by Sheriffs investigators when Nobile
reported for work early Thursday morning May 10th. Seized
from Nobile during a search of his person was a cylindrical
object approximately four inches in length containing a green
leafy substance believed to be marijuana and seven small,
round, brownish–white objects believed to be heroin.
Nobile was arrested and arraigned May 10th at Boston Municipal
Court and released on $25,000 cash bail. Signorino, Aluia
and Cincotti were arrested by State and Revere Police and
Sheriff’s investigators during the evening of May 10th,
and are scheduled for arraignment on Friday, May 11th, before
Judge Summerville at Boston Municipal Court. The investigation
is continuing, and additional arrests are anticipated.
“As I said yesterday, the work of the Sheriff’s
Investigative Division on this case was outstanding,” reiterated
Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.
“I have zero tolerance for the introduction of drugs or other contraband
into the Suffolk County Jail or House of Correction,” stated Suffolk County
Sheriff Andrea J. Cabral. “These arrests are the results of our continuing
efforts since 2003 to maintain a safe and secure environment at our facilities.
Offenders will be arrested and they will be referred for prosecution. We are
thankful for the cooperation we received from other law enforcement agencies
and pleased by their recognition of the tremendous efforts of our investigators.”
