Dorchester— Suffolk
County Sheriff Andrea J. Cabral and The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department is pleased
to announce the recent promotion of a Dorchester employee and the recent hiring of
another Dorchester native.
Richard Pacitti has been promoted to the position of Deputy Director of External Affairs for
the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department. He will coordinate all of the external inmate work
crews throughout Suffolk County. Pacitti started out with the department in 1997 as a
Community Works Program coordinator and was promoted to Assistant Director of Communications
and External Affairs where he remained until recently. As part of National Night Out on August
2, 2005, Pacitti was honored in Dorchester as an outstanding individual that makes our
neighborhood safer.
Ed Geary Jr. has been hired as an assistant to the Chief of External Affairs for the Suffolk
County Sheriff’s Department. He will be responsible for providing information to the media,
public, community organizations, and other governmental agencies. He will write and edit
articles, fact sheets, news releases, and assist in taking photographs for both internal and
external use. Geary will also assist in the coordination and implementation of special projects
as assigned by the Chief of External Affairs.
Both Rich Pacitti and Ed Geary Jr. work under the direction and leadership of Steve Tompkins,
the Chief of External Affairs for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department. Suffolk County Sheriff
Andrea Cabral and the Sheriff’s Department are pleased to have these two hard working Dorchester
individuals working on behalf of Suffolk County.
