Employees of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department collected
several dozen articles of clothing and shoes for the New England Shelter
for Homeless Veterans. The Office of Communications & External
Affairs at the Sheriff’s Department coordinated the effort with
employees and the Shelter.
"This is the third clothing drive we’ve had at the Sheriff’s
Department and employees continue to be incredibly giving," said
Sheriff Andrea J. Cabral. "With the record-breaking cold we’ve
already had this winter, employees were generous with their donations,
knowing the clothing would come in handy to those less fortunate. I
am very proud of the employees’ efforts."
Sheriff Cabral began the Winter Clothing Drive at the Sheriff’s
Department to help address the great need throughout Suffolk County
for winter clothing and supplies for the homeless. As weather and budget
conditions worsened this winter, there was an even greater need of
donations from organizations for clothing and supplies.
The Department also conducts a clothing drive in the spring.
