The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department’s held its first
Spring Clothing Drive this month to support local organizations throughout
Suffolk County. Through the generous support of Sheriff’s Department
employees, more than 500 items of clothing were donated to local charities
including Rosie’s Place and the Lemuel Shattuck Shelter and Outreach.
The Office of Communications & External Affairs at the Sheriff’s
Department coordinated the effort with employees and community organizations.
Through close coordination with the organizations that were receiving
the clothing, the Department was able to distribute the clothes efficiently.
“As with our winter clothing drive, Sheriff’s Department
employees have been incredibly giving during this clothing drive,” Sheriff
Cabral said. “We tend to forget that there is still a need
for clothing and supplies all year long, not just in the winter months.
I am very proud of employees efforts on behalf of this initiative.”
This marks the second clothing drive this year that Sheriff Cabral
has instituted at the Department. In February, more than 800 items
of clothing and new blankets were collected for area charities.
“I see outreach efforts such as the clothing drives as part
of our mission to give back to the communities we serve,” Sheriff
Cabral said.
