Suffolk County Sheriff Andrea
J. Cabral will be honored twice this week for her significant contributions
and commitments to the rule of law and justice in the Commonwealth,
and her leadership role in the community.
On Wednesday night, May 14, Sheriff Cabral will be honored as one
of 10 lawyers selected by the editors of “Massachusetts Lawyers
Weekly” for her involvement and work in significant cases both
as a former prosecutor at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s
office and her role as Sheriff.
The 2003 Celebration of Excellence in Law award ceremony will be
held at 6:30 p.m. at Omni Parker House in Boston.
On Thursday night, May 15, Sheriff Cabral will receive the Colonel
Daniel Marr Boys and Girls Club’s 2003 New England Women’s
Leadership Award at the World Trade Center in Boston.
The New England Women’s Leadership Awards recognize women
who have not only risen to positions of respect and influence, but
have also found ways to give back to their communities. NEWLA recipients
are outstanding leaders; they make it a priority to improve the status
of the underserved; they have forged new paths of endeavor for women—demonstrating
the personal qualities of leadership and commitment that make them
role models.
Sheriff Cabral is the recipient of the NEWLA Leadership Award, one
of four honorees to be recognized Thursday night.
The award ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. at the World Trade Center.
Sheriff Cabral will be available both nights following the conclusion
of the ceremonies.
