SUFFOLK COUNTY COMMUNITY WORKS PROGRAM SAVES CITY OF BOSTON MORE THAN $12,000 IN LABOR COSTS

Suffolk County Sheriff Andrea J. Cabral ordered her Community Works Crew to repair and clean up empty lots in Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain and South Boston throughout January and February. The Community Works Crew from the House of Correction worked to mend fences and remove debris on city owned lots throughout Boston.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to lend a helping hand to communities throughout Boston,” Sheriff Cabral said. “The Project Pride Partnership assists both the community and offenders in our custody by providing much needed services to the public and providing job training to offenders.”

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department was contacted about the clean up by the City of Boston through the Project Pride partnership. The work crews worked on empty lots throughout Boston for 16 days in January and February in conjunction with the City of Boston. The lots were located at 194 Blue Hill Avenue (Roxbury), Park Street and Norwell Street (Dorchester) and Wyse Street and Center Street (Jamaica Plain).
