Welcome to the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department Web site. This Website provides information about the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department and its public safety role within the communities of Boston, Revere, Chelsea and Winthrop. I am pleased to offer this site as a glimpse into the world of corrections, rehabilitation and the Sheriff's Department criminal justice role in the community.

The Sheriff's Department mission is to enforce the laws of the Commonwealth and to serve and protect the citizens of Suffolk County. We accomplish this mission by maintaining safe and secure custody and control of inmates and pre-trial detainees and enhancing public safety by seeking ways to effectively reduce offender recidivism. Thank you for visiting the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department Website.

PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT C.O.R.I. WORKSHOP

Due to the WHO’s increased alert level concerning the recent Swine Flu outbreak in the United States and MA, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department wants you to be aware of the following advisory: we encourage everyone to visit the CDC's web site at www.cdc.gov/swineflu for up to date information on the Swine Flu. We would also like you to visit the MA Department of Public Health’s website at www.mass.gov/dph. Practice the proper hygiene techniques: Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective. Practice good "cough etiquette" by coughing or sneezing into a tissue, or into your elbow instead of into your hands. Try to avoid close contact with sick people. If you get sick, stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to avoid infecting them. You can click here for a PDF with good hand washing techniques.
