In addition to providing tours inside the facilities, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department visits schools throughout Suffolk County. Students are taught about Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) laws which allow thousands of institutions to have access to criminal records. These school visits emphasize the fact that having a criminal record makes it difficult to perform everyday functions such as finding a job or a place to live.
