Job Opportunity: Teaching positions available (part time-no benefits)

General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities

Suffolk County House of Correction is accepting applications from qualified candidates to teach basic skills the following skill areas : Carpentry, Building Maintenance/Painting and Landscaping at the House of Correction. These are long-term part-time contractor positions, in the afternoon/evenings from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please specify, when responding, which position you are applying for and your availability. Salary $30.00 per hour. No benefits.

Qualifications

  • Carpentry, Building Maintenance/Painting, Landscaping- experience, preferably with a minimum of 3 years experience in teaching and or contracting.
  • Massachusetts Occupational Education or Industrial Arts Certification in Carpentry, Building Maintenance/Painting, Landscaping field or ability and willingness to become certified.
  • Ability to work in a correctional setting.
  • Ability to pass Sheriff’s Department background investigation.

The contractor agrees to teach five (5) week cycles upon a schedule provided by the Sheriff’s Department. Invoices for services rendered will be submitted on a monthly basis.
